Victor R. Smith

Dr. Victor R. Smith, age 77, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023 surrounded by his family.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Karen (nee Huller), his children T.J. Corcoran (Natalie), Emily, and Derek (Lauren), and his grandchildren Meghan, Quinn, Aidan, Ronan, Keelan and Caitlin Corcoran, and Caroline and Ian Smith, and his sister Melissa Hall. He was preceded in death by his mother Victoria, his father Robert, and his siblings Chris, Mark, and Pam Reed.

Victor grew up in Ft. Thomas, Kentucky, and played Center for the 1961 Highlands High School state championship football team.  He attended the University of Cincinnati, where he was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity, and graduated from Union College in 1968.  He graduated from the University of Kentucky Medical School in 1972, and went on to become a beloved pediatrician in the Greater Cincinnati community for over 45 years.

Victor was physically active his entire life and loved being outdoors, whether riding his bike around Ft. Myers and Sanibel Island, or landscaping at home.  He was also an active member of Highland Country Club in Ft. Thomas, where he loved playing golf and socializing with his many friends in the “Old Timers.”

Victor made a career of caring for others, and his family is honored that he continued in that spirit through his generous gift of organ donation.

Visitation will be held at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236 on Saturday, August 19, beginning at 9:30 a.m.  A service will follow immediately after at 11:00 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Youth on Course, or Diveheart.
