Tomas Ocampo Nicolas, M.D.

Tomas Ocampo Nicolas, M.D. passed away on March 18, 2023, in Kailua Hawaii at the age of 93. Visitation will be Friday, April 14 at Gilligan Funeral Home (8225 Montgomery Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45236) from 5pm to 7pm. The funeral mass is on Saturday, April 15 at 10am at All Saints Church (8939 Montgomery Road Cincinnati, OH 45236) with burial at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery (11000 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249). A reception will follow in Indian Hill at Livingston Lodge, 9350 Given Road, Cincinnati, OH 45243.

Tomas was born in the Province of Cagayan in the Philippines on September 22, 1929, to Florentino Unida Nicolas and Francisca Ocampo Nicolas. Tomas graduated from the University of Santo Tomas, College of Medicine in 1957. He emigrated to the United States in 1957 and began his medical career at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati. He trained in the Department of Pathology at the Medical College of Georgia (Georgia's Health Sciences University), in 1967.

Tomas enjoyed listening to classical music and opera. He loved dancing with his wife. He was an avid tennis player and also enjoyed watching tennis. He loved to travel and traveled extensively. He enjoyed attending annual reunions with the University of Santo Tomas Medical Alumni Association and received their Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017. He was an active member of the Cincinnati Filipino community. He was also a member of the Bukas Loob sa Diyos Covenant Community and the FASO Filipino-American Association of Southern Ohio (FASO).

He is preceded in death by his wife, Monica Toledo Nicolas and younger brother Marcelino. He is survived by his four children, Joseph Nicolas, Elisa Nicolas, Janet Myers and Arthur Nicolas as well as his grandchildren, Trinity and Christopher and nephew Marlo.
