Be the first to offer your condolences on Sharon's Tribute Wall
Sharon R. Shook, 82, beloved mother, family member and friend, went to be with the Lord on December 21, 2023.
Sherry was born October 7, 1941 in Cincinnati to Rachel and Virgil C. Roberts. She attended Withrow High School. Apart from Cincinnati, she spent 30 years living in Florida and attended the University of Miami. While living in Key West she married Darrell Shook in 1965 and they had a daughter, Sarah, in 1968.
Sherry always knew she wanted to be a teacher. She spent almost all of her 50-year career teaching, including high school English as well as Sunday School.
She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Kenwood for 20 years and, prior to that, she was a member of Old Cutler Presbyterian Church in Miami for 23 years. She grew up attending Knox Presbyterian in Hyde Park.
She devoted much of her time and energy to family and friends and was a talented needleworker and craftswoman.
On a more personal note, she was much beloved by everyone who knew her. It was said that she never had a bad word to say about anyone and was probably the most positive person they knew. People knew instinctively that they could confide in her.
Upon hearing of her passing a friend said:
“I loved Sherry.
Her family loved her.
Her friends loved her.
God loved her.
What a blessing she was.”
Sherry is survived by her beloved daughter Sarah, great aunt Catherine Smith, many cousins including Beth and Stephen Kiessling, and many cherished friends. She will be sorely missed.
Services are to be held on Friday, December 29 at 10:30 AM at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Kenwood.
