Richard Fraser Obituary

Dick Fraser, born November 9, 1942, formerly of Cincinnati, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, from complications of congestive heart disease and pneumonia on November 4, 2023. Dick was a 1957 graduate of The Summit Boys School. He was president of the student body in 1961 at The Peddie Prep School in Heightstown N.J. Dick graduated from The Wharton School of The University of Pennsylvania in 1965. He was a defensive lineman for Penn football in '62, '63 and '64 and elected a member of The Sphinx Honorary Society of twenty seniors. He was a member of the Houston Hall Board of Penn that booked national entertainment venues for the University, as well as an ardent member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity.

Upon graduation he joined the family's Standard Industrial Laundries Company and developed it's Atlanta expansion. By 1974 he became president of the 800-employee uniform rental firm until its sale in 1978 to ARA of Philadelphia. Dick also founded and served as Chairman of American Avents Corp., an entertainment entity with sixteen nightclubs nationwide until its sale in 1982.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents, Fleming B. "Don" Fraser and Erna Ruth Huenefeld Fraser, brother Don Bruce Fraser and his beloved wife of 40 years Barbara Ann "Winnie" Fraser. Winnie suffered a tragic car accident in 1968 at the age of 22 leaving her a paraplegic. Dick was her primary caregiver for the remainder of her life and ardent supporter of her continued accomplishments including participation in the Paralympics in Barcelona, Spain.

He is the father of Shannon Stacey Scalley (Chris Scalley) and Richard Christopher Fraser of Atlanta, GA and Jamie Nicole Fraser of California, as well as the loving grandfather of John and Gracie Scalley, brother of James A. Fraser (Jane) and uncle to David A. Fraser (Katy) and Elizabeth "Betsy" Leonidas and great uncle of seven great nieces and nephews of Cincinnati.

Services will be held at The Norman Chapel of Spring Grove Cemetery, Friday, November 17th at 10:30am with a reception immediately following at the Cincinnati Country Club, welcome to all.
