Raymond John Cravaack Sr. passed away on Sept. 20, 2021 at his home in Madeira, Ohio at the age of 90 years. He was born on January 16, 1931 in Norwood, Ohio to Raymond George and Catherine Tasch Cravaack. Raymond grew up the majority of his life in Madeira Ohio, where his father, Raymond George Cravaack, ran a well known picnic grove in Madeira. After completing high school, Raymond enlisted in the Navy and served overseas as a Navy Corpsman in the Navy/Marine Corps. He was Honorably Discharged in 1954. After his discharge, Raymond was a Hamilton County Deputy Sherriff until he went into the sales field. Raymond and Connie, Raymond's wife, both also ran one of the original roadside motels in Evendale, Ohio, The Evendale Motel, that his father had built in the early 1950’s.
Raymond had been married to the late Concetta Ziccardi Cravaack for 52 years prior to her passing in 2006. Later in life, he married Phyllis Scott, of Lafayette Indiana, who had attended Madeira High School with Raymond.
Raymond is survived by his wife Phyllis “Scott” Cravaack, his three children, John Cravaack, Stephanie Cravaack Horoski, and Raymond “Chip” Cravaack Jr. Affectionately called “Opa” by his grandchildren, Raymond leaves behind eight grandchildren, Claire, Jack, Carson and Conner Cravaack, Blake and Emma Buthusiem, and Nick and Grant Cravaack.
His presence will be sorely missed among his family and friends.
