Marilyn Clare Ovington (nee Gardner), born December 28, 1930 in Cincinnati, OH to parents Frederick and Mary H. (nee Berling) Gardner, passed away at home with family by her side on November 13, 2023 at the age of 92.
She graduated from St. Mary’s High School and went on to graduate from Good Samaritan School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at Childrens Hospital in Cincinnati. She had a way of nurturing and caring for others, and it showed in the way she raised her six children Sean (Julie) Ovington, Sharon Ovington (Chuck Cheadle), Scott Ovington, Mark Ovington, Chris Ovington, Kelly Ovington (Dana Warnock).
Marilyn had a way about her that made others feel comfortable and listened to. Along with her children there were many other friends of the family that came to her for advice and guidance through the years. Mrs. O, as everyone fondly called her, was a mother, a mentor, a friend, a guiding light, and a voice of reason for many.
Marilyn’s life was full of life and adventure. She had a lifelong love of learning and reading, traveling, cooking, golfing, and cheering on her beloved Cincinnati Bengals! She had a huge heart and loved every living creature, especially her dog Peaches.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Ovington, her parents Fredrick & Mary (Berling) Gardner, her siblings Evelyn (Wally) Obermeyer, Olive May (Gene) McKeon, Joe (Juanita) Gardner, Larry Gardner and Howard Gardner.
And survived in life by her children: Sean (Julie) Ovington, Sharon Ovington (Chuck Cheadle), Scott Ovington, Mark Ovington, Chris Ovington, Kelly Ovington (Dana Warnock). Grand Children: Casie (Kevin) Lewis, Andrew (Rebecca) Ovington, John (Andria) Greger, Andy Greger and John (Lona) Bennett. Along with several Great Grandchildren: Sophia Greger, Toby Greger, Vivian Greger, Will Lewis, Ella Lewis, Maddie Lewis, Braxton Ovington, Taylor Bennett, Mia Bennett & Blake Bennett.
