Glen Wright, Sr. died on February 18, 2024, at the age of 90. A native of Cincinnati, he was born in 1933 to Edsel and Betty Ann Wright. He attended Woodward High School before marrying and starting a family. Soon after, he started the Glen Wright Construction Company, building houses, townhouses, and apartment buildings in Cincinnati, including the Dupree House on Erie Ave.
Glen was a modern-day Renaissance man enjoying a broad range of skills and seeking knowledge from the arts, especially classical music, business, sports, and language. He loved being intellectually challenged. Glen taught himself how to play the piano as an adult and learned French. He was a world traveler and visited as many countries as he could.
No mountain was too high for him to climb, and no problem was too hard to solve. Glen was the most generous individual, helping anyone in need. His friends say he was hard-working, honest, loyal, and had a great sense of humor. No one had greater integrity and compassion. He treated everyone from all walks of life with dignity and respect.
Glen loved his family the most. As a single parent since 1971, he stood by each of his children helping them achieve their individual goals. He was the most supportive father and grandfather any child could have.
He is survived by his long-time companion of 48 years, Kathleen Venter, and his children and their spouses, Glenn Jr. (Patricia Kelly), Eugene (Karen Feck), Alisa (Michael Wright Colopy) and Gary (Mary Ann Gregurich) ); his five grandchildren, Heather Wright, Travis Wright Colopy, Glen Wright Colopy, Katie Wright, and Glenn Wright III; his three great-grandchildren Brianna Carrera, Heidi Weber Colopy, and Liam Weber Colopy.
A private memorial celebration will be held for family and close family friends.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Glen’s name to Tender Mercies, Inc. P.O. Box 14465; Cincinnati, Ohio, 45250.
