Charles J. “Chuck” Lima, Jr. passed away November 2, 2023 surrounded by his 6 children. He was 87 years old, born in 1936 to Charles J. Lima, Sr. and Grace (Naticchioni) Lima in Cincinnati, Ohio. Beloved husband of the late Ann (Sweeney) Lima; loving father to Dennis (Barb), Dave (Tillie), Cathleen (Chuck) Stain, Joe (Renee), Chuck (Kate) and Julianne (Mike) Rose; dearest grandpa to Charlie, Tony, Floriana, Jessi, Natalie, Sofia, Courtney, Ellie, Julia, Taylor, Emily, Nick, Jake, Jack, Jay, Luke, Michael and Matthew; great grandpa to Grace, Samuel, Lucas, Frankie, Teddy, Rhett, Grace, Annie and Vanessa; preceded in death by his sister Carol Lima Keel.
Chuck and his high school sweetheart, Ann married in 1956, and they raised their children in Cincinnati. He attended Purcell High School where he excelled in both football and baseball, and was a member of the 1953 baseball state championship team. He continued his football career at the University of Notre Dame, where he was a part of the 1957 Fighting Irish team that snapped Oklahoma’s legendary 47-game win streak. Chuck was a proud member of the Notre Dame Monogram Club.
After Ann’s debilitating stroke in 1998, Chuck spent the next 19 years caring for her, and he stayed by her bedside until her death in 2017. Chuck touched lives and formed lasting friendships at every stage in life. At the time of his death, Chuck was still in touch with friends from Purcell, Notre Dame, work, and other more chance encounters, and regularly prayed for those friends whom he had lost to old age. He left a lasting impression on everyone who was lucky enough to have known him. Chuck was a faithful Catholic and received the Eucharist once a week at home.
