Barbara J. Kelly

Barbara Jean Kelly, nee Fasce, 73, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January 17th, 2022, surrounded by her husband and two sons. Born to Louis and Betty Fasce on April 7, 1948 in Reading, Ohio, Barbara was the oldest of five siblings and attended Mount Notre Dame High School on a full academic scholarship and graduated with honors. She then went on to become a registered nurse upon graduation from Good Samaritan School of Nursing. Barbara worked as a public health nurse for the City of Cincinnati, as a school nurse for Cincinnati Public Schools, and in Labor and Delivery at Good Samaritan Hospital. She volunteered for many years as a caregiver for children with severe mental and physical disabilities at St. Joseph Home in Evendale. Barbara served as President of the Parish Council at St. Saviour Catholic Church, and, more recently, was a member of Good Shepherd Church in Montgomery.

Barbara married her high-school sweetheart, John "Pat" Kelly, and they have been married for over 52 years. Barbara was a loving and devoted mother and wife who worked tirelessly and selflessly to take care of others – including her siblings, nieces and nephews, her parents, and many others in the community who benefited greatly from her thoughtful and empathetic guidance, care, and love. She was an amazing woman, whose smile and laugh brought joy and comfort to everyone she ever encountered.

Her pride and joy were her two sons and her three grandchildren, Noah, John “Jack,” and Bridget, whom she was truly over-the-moon for, and they brought her great joy and happiness. They loved her dearly.

Barbara loved nature and the outdoors, and she enjoyed hiking, bike-riding, and taking long walks with her husband Pat. She was especially fond of the Gorge Trail at Sharon Woods and the Little Miami Bike Trail.

Family always came first and was above all else to Barbara, a value she instilled in all those around her. The hole left by her absence will be impossible to fill.

Barbara is survived by her devoted husband and their two sons, Brian (Agnes) and Timothy (Jennifer), and her four siblings, Ronald, Michael, Louis (Jody) and Annette. She was predeceased by her infant brother John.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Church, 8815 East Kemper Road, Montgomery, Ohio 45249, followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. and a procession to Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Montgomery for the burial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Barbara’s name to St. Joseph Home (https://www.stjosephhome.org/).
