Winifred D. Hidy

Winifred D. Hidy, 90, of Cincinnati, passed away peacefully with the love and support of her family on June 8, 2026. Winnie was born in Cincinnati on March 14, 1936 to the late George L. and Winifred (nee Hoy) Schafstall. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 48 years, Richard O. Hidy, as well as her older sister, Mary (William) Porter, of Laguna Niguel, California.

She is survived by her son, Richard J. Hidy and his wife Kathleen, granddaughter Catherine E. Smigelski and her husband Michael, grandson Richard W. Hidy and his wife Anna, great grandson Richard Alexander Hidy, and younger sister Laura Edwards and her husband Bill. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews of all ages.

Winnie will always be remembered for her lively conversation, love of sports, cooking and fashion, and her strong Catholic faith. Although she will be missed, it is that faith that teaches us that she is now reunited with her husband Dick, and forever at peace in eternal life.

The family deeply appreciates the care and support provided by the staff at Twin Lakes, especially the many extraordinary caregivers who so kindly assisted her during her stay in Shepherd Court.

A Mass of Christian Burial is being held for Winnie and her family. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Your friendship and your thoughts are the highest memorial that Winnie would ever wish to receive, but in lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
