William L. “Bill” Harland Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully on May 29, 2026, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Born on February 5, 1946, in Cincinnati, Bill was the beloved son of the late William L. and Carolyn (Currie) Harland. He graduated from Woodward High School in 1965 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Cincinnati. Bill built a distinguished career in insurance and investments, serving at multiple financial institutions before concluding his career at Fidelity Investments. He was widely respected for his knowledge, integrity, and dedication to helping others plan for their futures.
A proud patriot, Bill honorably served his country in the United States Army as a Specialist during the Vietnam War. Following his retirement from Fidelity, he continued his service to others as a Service Officer for American Legion Post 630 and was also a member of the Blue Ash Civic League.
Bill married the love of his life, Julie Quinn, on March 31, 1973, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Together, they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.
He was known for his enthusiasm for cars and firearms, and he was an active member of Ducks Unlimited. Bill greatly enjoyed traveling with Julie on cruises and trips across the country. He spent much of his free time coaching his children in sports, and later took great pride in cheering on his grandchildren at their athletic and musical events. He will be remembered for his deep devotion to family, strong work ethic, warm sense of humor, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Julie Harland; his children, Stephanie Kieninger (Kurt) and Courtney Veigel (Erich); his grandchildren, Emily Hamilton (Alexander), Ethan Veigel, Quinn Kieninger, Erich Veigel Jr., and Kyle Kieninger; and his cherished dog, Beau.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Burks, Sue Keast, and JoAnn Behm.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, from 8:15 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at The Community of the Good Shepherd, 8815 E. Kemper Road, Cincinnati, OH 45249. A Funeral Mass will follow immediately at 10:30 a.m. Burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery with military honors, followed by a luncheon at Montgomery Inn.
