William Andrew "Andy" Haggerty, longtime resident of Montgomery, passed away Wednesday, September 18th, 2024 at the age of 95. He is survived by two children: Brian (Anne) Haggerty and Amy (Keith) Swensen, eight grandchildren: Katie (Chris) Unkraut, Jeffrey (Marie) Stuart, Jennifer Haggerty, Maggie (David) Evans, Ben (Kelcey) Haggerty, Kyle (Margaret) Swensen, Andrea Swensen, Abby Swensen, and nine great grandchildren. Andy was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Haggerty, and his daughter Beth (Sam) McKinney.

Andy was born in the East End neighborhood of Cincinnati in 1928 to Andrew "Andy" Alexander and Stella Haggerty. He attended Withrow High School and went on to graduate from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He spent the following four decades working for the machining company Cincinnati Milacron, where he published 13 US patents. He was a proud engineer who "built the machines that built the machines."

A lifelong lover of baseball, he also enjoyed bowling and golf, which he played late into life. His favorite pastime was being with family. Andy was a devoted husband of 65 years to his wife, Shirley. Together they grew their family of five into a large, tight-knit extended family of thirty and counting. Andy and Shirley were loving and proud grandparents who never missed the opportunity to sing the praises of their eight grandchildren.

Andy will be remembered for his sharp wit, his steadfast dedication to doing things the right way, and the time he gave to the ones he loved.

An open house celebration of Andy's life will be held on Friday, November 15th, 5 - 8 pm at Montgomery Inn – 9440 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati OH 45242. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that a donation be made in Andy's name to their American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event team.
