William R. (Dick) Goedde, 93, passed away on June 6, 2023, at home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Dick was born January 18, 1930, in Lima, OH, to Alfred L. and Bessie (Reese) Goedde. On April 28, 1956, he married Virginia O'Brien Goedde who preceded him in death. Dick graduated from St. Rose High School in 1948 and enlisted in the United States Army. Upon completion of his one-year military commitment, he attended Bowling Green State University, graduating in 1953 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing and Economics while also receiving his officer commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserves. He graduated from the Command and General Staff College in 1974 and retired from the Army Reserves in 1979 as a Lt. Colonel.

He had a long and successful career in the property and casualty insurance industry. In 1979, he was named Ohio Field Representative of the Year. In 1986, he was promoted to Vice President of Marketing and Underwriting for Hamilton Mutual Insurance Company and moved to Cincinnati. He remained in this position until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of the Parishes of St. Rose and St. Charles Borromeo in Lima, Ohio, and later All Saints in Cincinnati. He was an active member at all parishes, volunteering for both school and parish functions including coaching baseball and basketball and serving as President of the School Board at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School. During his time at All Saints Church, he attended daily Mass and he visited the elderly and infirm at nursing homes, taking them Communion each visit.

Dick is survived by his children, Ann G. (Rick) Smith of Elida, OH, Philip A. (Susie) Goedde of Cincinnati, OH, John R. (Lynn) Goedde of Cincinnati, OH, Kate G. (Jerome) McMahon of Cincinnati, OH, James C. (Tammie) Goedde of Powell, OH, Jennifer G. Rahrig of Cincinnati, OH, Jane Goedde of Cincinnati, OH, Peter M. (Novilia) Goedde of Cincinnati, OH, Michael R. (Maria) Goedde of Cincinnati, OH, Eric M. (Holly) Goedde of Cincinnati, OH, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as his brother Alfred L. Goedde, Jr of Dublin, OH and sister M. Jane Goedde of Delray Beach, FL.

A Requiem Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Old Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Church on 123 E 13th St, Cincinnati, OH 45202 on Saturday June 17th at 10:30 am. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery following the Mass. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Philip Neri Cincinnati Oratory, 123 E 13th St, Cincinnati, OH 45202.
