"HAD A GREAT RIDE WITH ZZ'S PIZZA" Bill Enz, creator, designer and operator of ZZ's Gourmet Pizza in Walnut Hills for 18 years, as well as the companion Café Snazzy's during the 1990's, died on June 20, 2007 of complications from Parkinson's disease at his home. He restored the buildings in which the restaurants were located and helped to spark the renaissance of lower Gilbert Avenue, in Walnut Hills. Bill Enz is a Middletown, Ohio native and attended Monroe High School and Ohio State University in Columbus. After retiring from McGraw Construction Company in Middletown, he started his second career in Cincinnati with partner, Thomas F. Rehme, opening three restaurants. ZZ's Gourmet Pizza became famous for its gourmet style pizzas as well as Bill Enz's homemade pies that got national attention from "Pizza Today" and "Bon Appetit". Survivors include his partner of more than 25 years, Tom Rehme; A brother Albert Enz of Monroe, Ohio; Four nieces, Debbie Karkaris, Cindy Thomas, Lisa Miller and Jennifer MacDonald; And a nephew Mark Enz. Visitation is 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, June 25, 2007, all at St. Peter in Chains Cathedral, 8th and Plum Streets, Cincinnati, Ohio, with a reception at the Cathedral afterwards. Burial will be in the Lakeside Mausoleum at Spring Grove Cemetery after the reception.
