Obituary

Vincent Joseph Murphy, 86, passed away on January 11, 2024 in Cincinnati, OH. Vince was born in Lackawanna, NY on January 3, 1938, son of Charles and Margaret (Kepfer) Murphy. He grew up in South Buffalo and was a graduate of Bishop Timon High School. His Bachelor and Master's degrees were from University of Buffalo. Vince was a teacher-of-the Deaf at St. Mary's School until he moved to Albany in 1963, taking a position at the NY State Department of Education. In 1965, Vince joined the staff of the State University of NY Central Administration, retiring in 1995. Vince had many interests including ham radio, golf, tennis, computers, automobile maintenance, travel and cruising. Vince was also an avid Buffalo Bills fan. He and his wife Mary were former residents of Shaker Pointe at Carondelet. He will be greatly missed by his wife of 60 years, Mary (Simmons) Murphy; his daughter Christine (Tom) Quick; Maureen (Michael) Graber; son David (Donna) Murphy; granddaughters Katie Quick, Kelly (Taylor) Healey, Meghan Graber; and grandson Matthew Graber. Vince was predeceased by his parents and brothers Charles Jr. and Edgar. A celebration of Vince's life will take place in Albany in the spring.
