Thomas "Tom" C. Giovis, 83, passed away on November 14, 2014, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born on June 9, 1931, in Greece, the son of Christos and Maria (nee Typou) Giovis. Mr. Giovis immigrated to Ontario, Canada, and married Patricia Giovis (nee Ghizas). The couple moved to Cincinnati where Mr. Giovis laid the foundation for a successful career in the restaurant business. Mr. Giovis was dedicated and generous to his family. He was a beloved husband, devoted father and loving grandfather "dedo" to five grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. After retiring, he became a resident of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and enjoyed traveling the world and meeting new friends. Mr. Giovis is survived by his loving sons and daughter-in-laws, Chris (Jean) Giovis and Dino (Dana) Giovis, and grandchildren Jaclyn (Frank) Wolff, Thomas (fiance Alison Tonges) Giovis, Brielle Giovis, Paul Giovis, and Isabel Giovis. He also is survived by one brother, Bill Giovis of Greece, and two sisters, Sofia Gulekas of Canada, and JoAnn Stamatoulous of Greece. He was preceded in death by his wife, sister Levanka of Bulgaria, and brother John Giovis of Cincinnati. Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20 from 4:00 8:00 PM at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road, with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. Viewing will held Friday, November 21 10:00 AM until time of service at 11:00 AM at Holy Trinity - Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 7000 Winton Road. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
