Shirley Wakefield, of Madeira, passed away August 12, 2014. Mother of Sandra (Bradley) Meilink and Craig, grandmother of Kurtis and Christin Meilink. Received a B.A. Degree in Education from Miami University (Ohio) where she was a member of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority. Provided loving care to husband David, who recently passed away after living with diabetes for 80 years. She loved to play bridge, attend Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra performances and Cincinnati Reds games, where she was a Rosie Red member. With husband of 58 years, she traveled extensively throughout the world. Active in the Presbytery of Cincinnati, serving as Moderator. She received the Ecumenical Service Award from the council of Christian Communions of Greater Cincinnati in 1995. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 AM at Spring Grove Cemetery on Saturday August 16th. A memorial service will follow at Madeira-Silverwood Presbyterian Church with visitation from 10:00 AM until service at 11:00 AM. A luncheon will be served at the church following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 'The Kid Glove Way', 8424 Old World Ct, Union, KY 41091.
