Shannon Ann Gilligan Vanover, life-long resident of Greater Cincinnati, OH, died unexpectedly of cardiac arrest on July 30, 2015 at the age of 48, while at her residence in Maineville, OH. Shannon was survived by her mother Mary Elaine Gilligan; her husband, Larry Vanover; her children, Brady and Garrett Vanover. She is predeceased by her father, John W. Gilligan; sister, Colleen McPhillips (nee Gilligan); nephew Jacob Gilligan; and nephew Brendan McPhillips. Shannon was born in Cincinnati on July 11, 1967. She went on to achieve certification as a Dental Assistant in 1986. She married Larry and on January 28, 1995 welcomed Brady into this world and also welcomed Garrett on November 9, 1999. Shannon was a devoted mother and positive spirit that made people happy about themselves. She enjoyed her 12 nieces and 15 nephews almost as much as they enjoyed her. She loved pets and was always willing to take in strays. She always wanted to open an animal shelter. She loved landscaping and making the yard beautiful with flowers. She was the house guest who would bring more than expected to gatherings. She was an overly giving person who expected nothing in return. She always sought ways how to help family and friends in their time of need. People were blessed to cross paths with her. Viewing will take place from 5:00 8:00 p.m. at Gilligan Funeral Home on Montgomery Rd., Tuesday, August 4. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on August 5 at St. Susanna Church in Mason. Father Robert "Bob" Farrell will officiate. In place of flowers, please make a donation to an animal shelter of your choosing.
