Reggie, though unexpectedly widowed at the age of 35 and left with five children ages 1 year through 8 years was able to give a remarkable amount to the Greater Cincinnati area. After five premature births and in honor of her late husband, Mrs. Brockman started a critical care nursery at Good Samaritan Hospital in her late husbands name. Her next adventure was a remarkable fundraising event for the Cincinnati chapter of the Little Sisters of the Poor. A lush charity ball was born and in 1960, with yearlong preparation the Hall of Mirrors was transformed into a glamorous and luxurious black tie event. Thus, birthing the fundraising event of the year, which continued for many years to come. Mrs. Brockman who was diagnosed with incurable kidney disease in 1962, and with a dear friend traveling all the way to Louisville where the only artificial kidney could be found. Later she established the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati. Fundraising adventures included a mask ball and dinners but things really took off in 1969, when Reggie created the first Cincinnati Bengal Bash. Those were great years. The team was hot, and they supported the Bengal Bash whole heartily. Having support of the late coach Paul Brown and the Bengal team players produced a yearly event that was exciting and even included Paul Dixon and Bob Braun. The event continued yearly for more than 10 years, supporting the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati where all funds where distributed locally. Reggie Brockman's hard work and fortitude will live on in the Greater Cincinnati area. For many years, Reggie had a home in Florida where she was the founding patron of an auxiliary group, which provided birthday and Christmas gifts for every child in the Samaritan Center of Vero Beach.
