Obituary

Robert H. "Bob" Robertson, 90, of Cincinnati, Ohio and Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2011 at his home. Born May 8, 1920 in McGregor, Iowa to James and Katherine Robertson. Devoted and loving husband of 65 years to Violet (nee Kuhn), beloved father of Marcia (Bill) Robertson Leonard, Judy Krakow, Patti (Larry) Robertson Greenberg, Debby (Robert) Warren, Scott (Lauri) Robertson and Mark (Mary Joshua) Robertson, and proud grandfather of twelve. Bob graduated from Hughes High School, where he was on the track team, and received a B.S. from Xavier University in 1942. He served as a Buck Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WWII. Bob started Globe Business Interiors with his father in 1946 and worked there until his retirement. He loved spending time with his family and they were always his highest priority. He was also a friend and mentor to many others, and had a positive impact on many people's lives. He was a devout Christian and a person of extraordinary faith. He loved having a good time, and was an avid fan of all Cincinnati sports teams He was a longtime member of Knox Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder and a Deacon, and later Madeira-Silverwood Presbyterian Church and the Moorings in Naples, Florida. He was very active in many civic and charitable organizations, serving on the boards in leadership roles for The Rotary Club of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Police Department (citizen representative), YMCA of Greater Cincinnati, Xavier University, City of Hope, Architectural Foundation of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Zoo Erkenbrecher Society, The Dan Beard Council Boy Scouts of America, the Cincinnati Nature Center, Evans Scholars Foundation, and Stepping Stones Center. He was an elected director of the Liberal Savings Association/Citizens Federal in Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of the Cincinnati Athletic Club, Queen City Club, Recess Club, Muirfield Country Club, The Golf Club, Kenwood Country Club, and The Yacht Club and The Hole in the Wall in Naples. During retirement, he delivered Meals on Wheels in Cincinnati and Naples and read to the blind. He felt richly blessed and deeply grateful for his beloved wife and family, his friends, his success in business and his ability to help others. A private family service has been held at the Madeira - Silverwood Presbyterian Church and Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati or the charity of your choice.
