Robert E. "Bob" Jones, husband of the late June Elaine Smith, joined her when he passed peacefully in his home on June 20, 2007, at age 71. Born in San Francisco, he was a graduate of Bellerman H.S. and received a football scholarship to UCLA and a baseball scholarship to Santa Clara University. He attended Santa Clara University where he continued to play baseball, was a member of Delta Sigma Pi and graduated with a degree in Business. He met his beloved wife, June Smith, on a blind date, in 1955, and they married two years later. After college, he went into the Army where he was a Capt. of the 82nd Airborn Maroon Berets and medic for two years, before landing a job with Ford Motor Company in San Jose. His job brought him to many cities, including Cincinnati and finally, New Orleans, LA, before retiring as District Sales Manager after 30 plus years of service. After the death of his wife, he returned to the Cincinnati area to be closer to three of his four children, as well as his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing golf, being with friends and watching every sporting event under the sun. He was one of the first coaches for Sycamore Arsenal Boys Select soccer. And unknown to most, he was trained to become a concert pianist (against his will). He is survived by his four children: Scott Jones, Sandra Mahan, Christopher Jones and Lisa Medley, as well as his five grandchildren: Joshua, Andrew, Taylor, Brendan, and Catalina. Visitation and mass will be held on Wednesday, June 27 at Good Shepard Church, 8815 E. Kemper Rd. Cincinnati, OH, 45249. Visitation 12-1pm, Mass of Christian Burial immediately following at 1pm, with interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Reception to follow at his house to celebrate his life- in Heaven and on Earth.
