Rita M. Stephens, nee Hartkemeyer, born March 27, 1921 died March 12, 2006. Beloved wife of the late Lee C. Stephens, survived by her five children Carol Schaefer, Dianne McDaniel, Stephen Stephens, Terri Smith, and Maria Faessler, nine grandchildren Michael Schaefer, Melinda O'Boyle, Kevin McDaniel, Kerry McDaniel, Sarah Stephens, Leigh Stephens, Jennifer Smith, Jessica Smith and Brian Faessler, and five great grandchildren, Dustin Smith, Katharine Schaefer, Zoe Smith, Megan O'Boyle and Eleanor Smith. Rita was the last survivor of her eleven siblings, Elizabeth Roeckers, Eleanor Bruemmer, Mildred Kieffer, Mary Hartkemeyer, Virginia Kesel and Harry, William, Charles (Tiny), Edward, Paul and Ralph Hartkemeyer. Rita was dedicated to her family for her entire life caring for, in addition to her immediate family, her mother-in-law Edna Stephens, and her sisters Eleanor, Mildred and Mary in their old age. She was a good judge of what was best for her family and her interior beauty was reflected in her beautiful face. Rita was a member of St. Vincent Ferrer Church for over 51 years.
