Obituary

Richard Cooke Easterbrooks, 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family November 17, 2021. He was born in Providence, R.I., September 29, 1933 to parents Hazel Cooke and Frank D. Easterbrooks, Jr. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joanne I. Easterbrooks, and preceded in death by Janet S. Easterbrooks, 24 years. He is also preceded in death by brother Frank D. Easterbrooks III, and survived by brother Roger Easterbrooks.

Richard and his brother Frank attended Cranston High School, Cranston, R. I. Both played on the basketball team, and graduated together in 1951. He began college at the University of Rhode Island, then entered the U.S. Army Tank Corp., where he served as an army specialist from 1955-57. After graduating from URI, Richard moved to Syracuse, New York to begin working for Armstrong World Industries. His journey with Armstrong also moved him to Pittsburgh, PA and Cincinnati, OH. He became a contract manager in the floor division and remained with the company for 30 years before retiring as a consultant.

Richard was an adoring father to Kathryn (Vince) Schweppe, Susan (Russ) Brown, Donald (Jennifer) Easterbrooks, Jennifer (Bob) Enderle, and Christopher (Krystel) Hyer.

He equally adored his grandchildren, Kevin, Amanda, Nicholas, Danielle, Lucas, Nathan, Elizabeth, Jonathan, Hannah, Emma, Sophia, Madalyn, and great granddaughter, Willow.

Richard enjoyed life to the fullest, always embracing good times with family and friends. He cherished time spent with everyone. He had an unmistakable charisma, always making people laugh and enjoying the laughter with them. He enjoyed volunteering in his retirement years, reading over the radio to the blind, and working with Joanne at the ATP tennis tournament in Mason. He was a member of Harper's Point Tennis Club for over 40 years, and also had a passion for golf. He loved to read, collect coins, and spend time with his family and friends.

Richard will be deeply missed by all of us, including many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Association of Cincinnati:  644 Linn St., Cincinnati, OH 45203 or Wounded Warrior Project PO Box 758516 Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516
