IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Peter R.
Mello
June 20, 1951 – August 28, 2025
Peter Raymond Mello, 74, passed away on August 28, 2025, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Born on June 20, 1951, in Rehoboth, Massachusetts, Pete lived a life marked by energy, warmth, and an unmistakable presence that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Pete built a long and successful career in the restaurant and bar industry. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to open Daniels Pub and later run Dive Bar, both of which became local favorites known not only for their atmosphere but also for the welcoming environment Pete cultivated. His establishments were more than just places to eat or drink, they were gathering spots where laughs were shared and lasting friendships formed.
His passion for entertaining and entrepreneurship extended outside of the restaurant business, as he took on new endeavors in parking lot and property management. Pete could always be found on a UC Bearcats gameday hosting tailgates that brought Corryville together, and sharing stories that kept listeners hanging on every word.
With his large personality and outgoing nature, Pete truly never met a stranger. Whether behind the bar or out in the community, he had a way of making people feel heard and valued. Many saw him as a father figure, someone who offered guidance, humor, and unwavering support when it was needed most. Both at work and in his home neighborhood of Paddock Hills, Pete made sure everyone knew they were a part of his family.
Pete was an avid sports fan. Between cheering for his home town teams, his Iowa State Cyclones, or an alma mater of one of his kids, he never lacked for a game to follow. He brought the same enthusiasm to his teams as he did to every other part of his life, and could always be counted on to come prepared with new sports trivia questions and stats.
Peter's family served as a centerpiece in his life. He was proud of his Portuguese ancestry. He spent hours researching new connections, and preserving the memory of those who came before him. He spoke often of his trip to Portugal, which was a point of pride for him along with visiting all 50 states by his 50th birthday.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Maureen Mello; his children Stephanie Stuckey (John), Amanda Glenski (John), Brandon Mello (Claire), Jessica Howell (Cameron), Peter (Joe) Mello (Haley), and Audrey Mello; his cherished grandchildren: John (JT) Stuckey; Sophie, Lydia, Bridget, and Isaac Glenski; Cecilia and Rosa Mello; Sadie and Brooks Howell; and Olivia and Baby Mello expected in September. Peter also leaves behind his siblings Richard, James (Jim), and Sr. Carole Mello, and countless nieces and nephews who he insisted call him their favorite uncle.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents Manuel and Georgianna Mello, and his brothers Francis (Frank), Raymond (Ray), Manuel (Manny), Thomas (Tom), and twin Paul Mello.
Pete's legacy lives on through the many lives he touched with his generosity of spirit and boundless charm. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him, as the stories continue to be told for years to come.
