Paul Hern was born March 11, 1950 in Cincinnati, devoted son of Roy D. Hern and Anna M. Hern, and died August 6, 2022 in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina at the age of 72. He was first educated at Madeira City Schools where both parents were teachers, and he went on to graduate from Ohio State University and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He worked 30 years until 2001 for the United States Postal Service in Boston, Columbus and Cincinnati and worked for 41 years until 2013 for the American Postal Workers Union, including serving for many years as the National Business Agent for the Cincinnati Region. He was the devoted father of Tricia Hern, M.D. of Indianapolis, Jeffrey Hern Esq. of Portland, Oregon (Lindsey) and Robert Hern Esq. of Cincinnati (Claire) and eight grandchildren, Gavin and Lydia Struble; Ellisyn, Zoey, and Penelope Hern; Audrey, Andrew and Leah Hern. He held a license to preach in the United Methodist Church. He was a (Ruby) Life Master bridge player and teacher, a pursuit he shared with his mother, and had a lifetime hobby of golf, a pursuit he shared with his father.

Funeral service will be on Saturday August 27th, 2022 at 1pm at St Paul United Methodist Church at 8221 Miami Road in Madeira, and burial in Hopewell Cemetery 10205 Montgomery Road immediately following. The family will host a reception after the funeral service and burial at 50 West at 7668 Route 50.
