Patricia Ann Mercurio (née DiPuccio) passed away peacefully on Friday September 27, 2024, age 85. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Frank A. DiPuccio and Geneva M. DiPuccio (née Gallo) and is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Frank X. Mercurio, three children—Franck M. Mercurio, Marisa Chawner (m. Mark Chawner), Gina Brueggeman (m. John Brueggeman)—seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

Educated at St. Ursula Academy, Our Lady of Cincinnati College (Edgecliff College), and the Art Academy of Cincinnati, "Pat" excelled in the fine arts, particularly in painting, having studied under noted Cincinnati artist and educator Paul Chidlaw. She worked as an illustrator for Gibson Greetings before marrying the love of her life, Frank X., and settling in Norwood, Ohio, to raise their family. During this time, Pat continued to work as an artist and gained an appreciation of Japanese culture, eventually training in sumi-é (ink painting) and ikebana (flower arranging) and creating her own distinctive hybrid style of art. She exhibited her work at the Cincinnati Nature Center, among other venues, and taught workshops at the Baker-Hunt Art and Cultural Center in Covington, Kentucky, and the Cincinnati Art Academy.

As she grew older, Pat's devotion to her Catholic faith deepened. She was especially devoted to the Blessed Virgin and the Holy Rosary. In 1990 she made a pilgrimage to the town of Međugorje in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the site of an apparition of the Virgin. Throughout this time and up until her final days, Pat was an engaged member of St. Gertrude parish in Madeira, Ohio.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 2, 8–9 a.m. at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road, 45236. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 2, 9:30 a.m. at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, 6543 Miami Ave, 45243.
