Patricia Boyle Koons died peacefully at home during a conversation with her longtime caretaker on Sunday, July 29th. She was 88. Pat was born and raised in Maine and moved to Cincinnati as the bride of John Fletcher Koons in 1947. She attended Trinity College and Boston University Law School and completed her law degree at the University of Cincinnati where she was on the Honor Roll. She passed the Maine Bar in 1949. She and Bud Koons raised their four children in Hyde Park and Indian Hill. She was an avid tennis player and volunteered at Christ Hospital for 20 years. She was also involved with other charitable organizations and had a special interest in protecting animal rights. She lived part time in Florida for many years and traveled often with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Jeff Koons of West Palm Beach, Florida, Deborah Koons Garcia of Mill Valley, California, James Koons and his wife Mary Nyquist Koons of Eugene, Oregon, and Christina Koons and her husband Jim McIntire, Seattle, Washington. She was a loving grandmother to her seven grandchildren, Caroline Koons Forrest, Kathleen Koons Peiffer, Maura Koons, Jeremy Koons, Morgan Koons, Nicholas Baker and Carson Baker. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, Eloise Forrest, Thomas Forrest, Reiko Koons, Sailor Peiffer and Cameron Jack Koons. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 3 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gertrude Parish on Shawnee Run Road in Cincinnati. There will be a visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. and a burial service at Armstrong Cemetery following the mass.
