Patricia LeBlond Clasgens passed away peacefully on Monday, March 25, 2013 at the age of 87. Patsy, as she was known, was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH. She attended grade school at Summit Country Day, junior high at Hillsdale, and graduated from the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, CT. Colleges included Pine Manor Junior College in MA and Barmore College in NY. As a young lady, she was a popular debutante and socialite, known for a pleasing melodious voice with which she would entertain her friends in song. Her captivating beauty radiated from within, and her compassionate concern for others touched many lives. She relished volunteer work with the sick and injured, beginning as a nurse's aide during the war at various hospitals including General Hospital in Cincinnati, Petoskey Hospital in Michigan and Veterans Hospital in Massachusetts. A city girl at heart, in 1974, she ventured upon a new and different adventure when she and her beloved husband, Jay, built their dream home in Felicity, Ohio, high atop a hill overlooking the river. Even then, tucked away in the country, she would drive eighty-three miles, round trip, to Mercy Hospital Clermont in Batavia to continue her volunteer work. She was elected Guild President at the hospital, offering ideas and advice to the management team. She also taught CDC classes at the local church, and was involved in launching the first annual New Richmond Regatta. Patsy was blessed with a multitude of talents that she exhibited in her various hobbies. She was an outstanding gourmet cook to the delight of her family and the friends she entertained. She even won several blue ribbons at local county fairs for her culinary masterpieces. In addition, she was an avid knitter and skillful quilter, taking "best in show" for her creations. She loved to garden and demonstrated a green thumb in raising both vegetables and a variety of flowers. Idle time was unknown to her. Her love of reading was never more evident than in her knowledge and conversation. She would devour 2-3 books per week and would entertain everyone with both facts and fancy. Patsy and Jay travelled the world, from their first trip abroad in 1952 on the QE2 to subsequent visits to 139 countries on six continents. Always a loving wife and mother, Patsy especially delighted in her grandchildren. Fondly calling her "Fuffy", their laughter would resound as she played their games and introduced them to new adventures. Patsy is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Joseph Henry Clasgens II, a son, Joseph Henry Clasgens III of Portland, OR and Rancho Mirage, CA, and three daughters, Marcia Anne Clasgens of Lyden, New Mexico, Patricia "Truka" Clasgens Fisk, Cynthia LeBlond Clasgens of Cincinnati, OH and the late Michael A. Clasgens. She leaves a brother, Richard K. LeBlond of Biddeford Pool, ME and Ponte Vedra, FL, as well as 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 2 from 9:30 am at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 7770 Beechmont Ave. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am.
