Alpharetta, Georgia - Norbert Charles Eble, 92, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, March 31, 2021, surrounded by family.Norbert was born on April 12, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio, son of the late Walter Eble and Eva Martin. A graduate of Elder High School, Norbert spent his career as a draftsman at the William Powell Company, where for many years he was one of the company's top designers of industrial valves. His career was interrupted by an enlistment in the U.S. Navy when he honorably served as a radarman aboard the USS Dortch during the Korean War. This included a round-the-world tour of duty that he would recall as being one of the highlights of his life.Norbert, known to friends as "Norb," enjoyed boating on the Ohio River, home-grown tomatoes, roses from the garden, and model train displays. He took beautiful amateur photos all his life, and he loved eating Skyline Chili and listening to Big Band Jazz. Norbert's favorite music was by Stan Kenton, or whatever his daughter Linda was playing on her clarinet, as he faithfully attended nearly every concert she ever performed. Norbert was a fixer and a provider - there was nothing he couldn't create, repair, or adapt to a new use. Although his last days were spent in Georgia with his family, his heart was always on the West Side of Cincinnati, and that is where he will reside forever. Norbert is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Sara (Gysin) Eble; daughter Linda (Eric) Brill and grandchildren Hallie, Noah, and Ian Brill, of Alpharetta, GA; daughter Janelyn (David) Smith of Lake City, CO; grandchildren Tricia Hartman, Tami McKeon, and Steve Smith; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 10 from 10-11 am at Gilligan Funeral Home, 3671 Warsaw Avenue, Price Hill (Cincinnati 45205) for visitation, followed by a brief service onsite. Norbert will rest in peace at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Eighth and Seton Avenues, City of Cincinnati. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the American Legion Post 534 Cincinnati or to a charity of your choice.
