Obituary

Mildred "Millie" (nee Hoctor), beloved wife of the late Donald H. Ritter, devoted mother of the late Donald Ritter, Sandra Szeghi, Michael (Barbara) Ritter, Catherine Ritter, the late Nancy Ritter, Thomas (Nelida) Ritter, Patricia (Donald) Ewing, John (Susan) Ritter, Julie (Michael) Ayers, Jennifer (Stephen) Preston, loving grandmother of Bridget, Brian and Chris Kirkpatrick, Shelley Kearns, Emily Ritter-Beckman, Elizabeth and David Ritter, Katelin and Madilyn Ritter, Matthew and Sarah Ritter, Donald Ewing, Stacey Ewing-Still, Eric Ritter, Grant Ayers and Declan Preston, dear great-grandmother of Kody, Austin, Even, Eli, Bowdyn, Bryson, Carlee, Donald (Henry), Brynley, Aubrie and Levi, (with another one on the way). Sister of the late Edward (Pat) Hoctor, Dorothy (the late Earl) Frodge, Marian (the late James) Doll, William (Carol) Hoctor, Kathleen (the late Joseph) Fromme, Dan (Darlene) Hoctor. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Together with her six siblings, she was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. Millie went to school first at Cardinal Pacelli in Mt. Lookout, later in Mt. Adams and eventually earned a technical degree from Quarter Tech in accounting/business. She was a faithful Christian, loving mother and wonderful homemaker who led by example. Millie gave unconditionally to those around her and enjoyed life to the fullest. She was an avid traveler who relished new adventures but mostly she enjoyed being with her family. We like to joke that at any given time we could call mom and announce, Road Trip! and she would say, O.K. how much time do I have to get my bag together? Never worrying about where the road would take her, just knowing she would be with loved ones was enough. Her favorite song was What a Wonderful World by the great Louis Armstrong. The reason this song resonated with her was that she truly believed in our magnificent earth and all of the wonderful people sharing in its beauty. Millie always made you feel welcome in her presence and loved completely without judgment. She had a wonderful sense of humor and laughed often. Millie was loved by all and will be greatly missed. May she rest in peace. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 22, 2018 at the Gilligan Funeral Home, 2926 Woodburn Avenue from 5-8 PM. There is an additional viewing on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 10 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM at Holy Cross-Immaculata Church, 30 Guido Street Cincinnati, OH 45202. Interment in Old St. Joseph Cemetery, Price Hill. In lieu of Flowers, Memorials may be made to the Shriners Burn Hospital for Children 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229.
