Mary Ellen Zicka (nee. Holmes) Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on August 27, 1916 to Anthony and Margaret Holmes, both from Ireland. Moved to Cincinnati and was married to the late Edwin A. Zicka. Had three children: Edwin Michael (Rosemary) Zicka, Carole Tekulve (nee.Zicka), and Mary Jo (Joe) Farruggia (nee. Zicka). Mary Zicka had 10 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her siblings: Michael Holmes, Catherine Luegering (Holmes), Anthony Holmes, Rita Hartlaub (Holmes), Margaret Holmes, and Richard Holmes. Even though she had a long career of 50 years in Real Estate, her family always came first. Also, Mary Zicka had time for many interests: a talented piano player, art, painting, interior decorating, and creative writing and poetry. Mary sold Real Estate for over fifty years until 2007. Retired at 90 years old because she could no longer drive. Began in 1948 for Homestead Realty with her then husband Edwin A. Zicka who was the Broker and Owner. Worked as a Realtor for Zicka Homes, Sibcy Cline, West Shell, Coldwell Banker among others. Mary E. Zicka had the distinction of the Million Dollar Club Sales year after year, as well as many other awards in the Real Estate Industry.Mary E. Zicka was a leader, ambitious, hardworking, and reflected her Irish sense of humor and quick wit. Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother were first in her life. Departed on June 10, 2013 at the age of 96. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 13 from 5-8 pm at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Rd. at Galbraith. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 14 at 10:30 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 8939 Montgomery Rd. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, P.O.
