With heavy hearts our family shares the news that Mary (our loving sweet mom/grandma) went to dance with Jesus on January 19th, 2025. She was 86 yrs. young.
Mary, beloved mother of Kenneth Quick, Karen Summey (Quick), Kathy Warner (Quick), Kelli Quick, stepson John Wethington. 13 grandchildren, Kristina, Kristopher, Jessica, Nicole, Eric, Jeremy, Justin, Jake, Alex, Shelby, Jarrett, Jordan, Wyatt. 10 great-grandchildren, Karly, Madison, Sophia, Nolan, Luke, Lylah, Kaylynn, Storm, Emersyn, Elias, and Sierra. 2 great great-grandchildren, Oaklynn, Everly. Survived by her cherished sister Lola Harlow (Young), Nieces Helen, Rosemary, Amy, Diane. Nephews David, Darrin, Joseph. Preceded in death by her parents Russell and Hilda, sister Shirley, brothers Russell, Arthur, Donald, and husband of 45 yrs., Jack Wethington.
Mary was born in Cincinnati, OH in 1938. She loved to sing and in elementary school in the 1940's was invited to sing on the radio. She graduated in 1956 from Western Hills High School where she was the Treasurer of the Sparkettes sorority. She married Ken Quick after high school and moved to Oklahoma. Then moved back in 1958 and stayed in the greater Cincinnati area the rest of her life.
Her 1st job as a teenager was at Coney Island. She was a police dispatcher for West Chester, and also secretary to the Chief of Police in Sharonville where she retired after 20yrs. Mary enjoyed the beach and vacationed often to Florida and traveled to many states throughout her lifetime. She loved to bowl and joined several leagues where she maintained a 170-200 average. She enjoyed playing scrabble and was an avid card player, somehow, she always had all 4 aces in 500 Rummy!!
Mary's warm smile, loving heart, and infectious humor will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her. She was a wonderful mom who was always there when we needed her most. Her depth of love and happiness shared with us will forever remain in our hearts.
Visitation will start at 11:00 a.m., Saturday January 25th, with a Funeral Service at 12 p.m., Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road. Burial immediately following at Rest Haven Memorial Park, 10209 Plainfield Road.
