Mary Agnes Meretta, (nee Peckskamp) wife of the late John L. Meretta, passed away on February 16, 2005 due to complications of Alzheimer's at the age of 88. Born in Cincinnati, Mrs. Meretta attended the College of Music and was a member of Mu Phi Epsilon Sorority. Majoring in harp and piano, Mrs. Meretta continued teaching piano over the course of 50 years in her home and at the College-Conservatory of Music Prep Dept. An avid arts supporter, she was a member of the Cincinnati Symphony's Orchestra's Opus 50 Club having been a subscriber for over 50 years. Her opera subscriptions dated back to performances at the Cincinnati Zoo. In addition many other charities and churches benefited from her support. She was a gracious and giving person especially in her dedication to expose young people to the arts. She was the loving mother of Mel Keumpel (John), Trish Bryan (Rick), and Michael Meretta all of Cincinnati and loving grandmother of Rick Bryan (Faith) Lisi George (Dan) Matt Bryan (Claudia) of Colorado, J.R. Hofmann, Andy Hofmann (Erin), Ellie Hofmann of Portland, OR, Julia Keller (Chris) of Chicago, & Catherine Kasimov (Cory) of N.Y. City. She also leaves 10 great grand-daughters. Visitation will be Monday, February 21st from 9:00am to 10:00am at Old St Mary's Church. Mass for a Christian Burial is at 10:00am Old St Mary's Church, 123 E. 13th Street, Cincinnati, OH. Gilligan Funeral Home is in charge of the services.
