Ms. Mary Corinne LaValle, 73, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 in Winston-Salem, NC. Mary was born in Buffalo, NY on February 23, 1933 to the late Dr. Joseph C. LaVallee, Sr. and Eugenie Pirong LaValle. Mary was a lifelong resident of Cincinnati, OH. She was a graduate of St. Ursula Academy (1951), where she was class president and Official Bell Ringer. Mary then attended Edgecliff College and graduated with a BA in French (1955). She went on to further her education by obtaining a graduate certificate in Medical Records Science from the Graduate Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (1958) and a graduate certificate in Hospital Administration from Xavier University (1969). As Mary loved to tell everyone in her later years, she was just 8 courses away from obtaining her Ph.D. From 1958 to 1977 Mary served as director of Medical Records Services for Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Mariemont, OH. From 1977 to 1985, Mary was Coordinator in the Medical Records Technology program at Cincinnati Technical College. She retired from teaching in 1985, but stayed very active in numerous community activities, including teaching first grade religious education at Good Shepherd Parish and part-time food demonstration at Kroger in Montgomery. She also loved to travel and took numerous trips throughout the United States and to Paris, France. Mary loved life and her family. She always had a wonderful, positive attitude and outlook. Although she was small in stature, she never let that get in her way, as she was a strong, vibrant soul with a beautiful, loving spirit. Mary enriched the lives of all who knew her or came in contact with her. Mary's love for God and others emanated from her entire being as she loved everyone unconditionally. She was truly an angel here on earth. Mary also leaves behind many close friends in Cincinnati, OH, where she was active in many community organizations, including her beloved Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Mary was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Joseph Charles LaValle, Jr and his wife Betty Shaw LaVallee. She is survived by two nephews; Steven E. LaValle (wife Sarah, children; Jamie, Chase, Michael and Dylan of Bristol, IL) and Michael J. LaValle (wife Lee, children; Brandon, Joseph, Marisa and Aaron, of Winston-Salem, MA). In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Memorials be made in Mary's name to Good Shepherd Catholic Church or St. Ursula Academy. Visitation Saturday, 9:15 AM until 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial at Good Shepherd Chapel. A Memorial Service will also be held in Winston-Salem, MA (date and time to be announced).
