Dr. Mary Margaret Kindel, 79, passed away on the evening of December 5th, 2024. Long a resident of Mt. Adams and Siesta Key (FL), Mary Margaret was born September 26th, 1945 to Edward and Marilyn Kindel (nee Compton) in Indian Hill. A proud alumna of the Academy of the Sacred Heart ('63) and Edgecliff College ('67), she also earned the M.Ed. (Xavier University) and Doctorate of Education Administration (University of Kentucky). Mary Margaret devoted her working life to students as a high school math teacher and guidance counselor.

Hers was that rich and rare life that escapes brief elaboration. A devout Catholic, Mary Margaret was a parishioner at Mother of God Church in Covington. Her faith and character informed her many other spiritual and philanthropic pursuits, ranging from gardening in Mt. Adams to fundraising for faculty and student research through Xavier's Women of Excellence. Mary Margaret was also a patron and student of the arts. She practiced stained glass and emblazoned her own enameling in a kiln she set up at home; she also endowed an annual Kindel Concert held in Montgomery in commemoration of her parents.

In her free time Mary Margaret was an inveterate traveler, having visited 5 continents. She had recently returned from trips to Europe (a favored destination) and Alaska and joyfully looked forward to more adventures. She loved to entertain, hosting such regular gatherings as fireworks-viewing parties after Reds' games and Christmas brunches. She nurtured an immense, caring, and beloved group of friends.

Visitation will be held at Mother of God Catholic Church in Covington, KY on Friday, December 13th from 10-12, followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:05pm. Mary Margaret will be interred at Gate of Heaven Cemetery immediately following Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Mother of God Catholic Church at 119 W. 6th St., Covington, KY 41011.
