Mary "Elaine" Gilligan (nee Doppes), 83, life-long resident of Cincinnati, OH passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 26, 2015. Elaine's faith and family were her main priorities in life. She was an amazing and thoughtful woman whose happiness came from giving, caring, and loving those around her. She enjoyed her neighbors, reading on her deck, and going on trips with family. Elaine was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Gilligan, daughters Colleen McPhillips and Shannon Vanover, grandchildren Jacob Gilligan and Brendan McPhillips, brother Don, son-in-laws John Douglass and Patrick McPhillips. Elaine is survived by her brother Paul, children Jack Gilligan, Karen Douglass, Brigette Gilligan, Brian Gilligan, and Shawn Gilligan, daughter-in-law, Trina Gilligan, son-in-law, Larry Vanover, daughter-in-law Jacqueline Gilligan, as well as 18 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at held at 11am on Wednesday, September 2, at St. Bartholomew Church, 9375 Winton Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45231 where family and friends can be received from 9:30 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Hospice of Southwestern Ohio.
