Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Everhart, age 94, died peacefully alongside the love of her family on Saturday, May 27, 2017. She will be with her Lord, and those preceding her in death: her father, J. C. Grunkemeyer, her mother, Loretta (Holtmeier) Grunkemeyer, and her sister Ruth (Grunkemeyer) Burgett. She is survived by Richard Frank "Dick" Everhart, her adoring husband of 71 years and their two sons: Tom, age 62, and Jim, age 59 alongside his wife Terri (Lorenz), and Betty's brother, John Grunkemeyer (FL). Betty also blessed the lives of her wonderful grandchildren Cory, Kensie, Erin, and Kate. This avid gardener, accomplished golfer, and before-her-time organic gardener, was also a true student of life earning her Bachelor's degree in Home Economics from Our Lady of Cincinnati College, Edgecliff and her Master of the Dietary Science (in 1946, no less) from the University of Iowa. In her free time, Betty could be found traveling around the globe, racing go-karts on the driveway with her kids, volunteering for a variety of charitable causes, or supporting her church. Betty was vibrant, intelligent, strong, and gracious. She was loved and will forever be in our hearts. Funeral services will be on Friday, June 2 at St. Gertrude's at 6543 Miami Avenue, Madeira, OH 45243 with viewing at 8:45 AM and Mass beginning at 9:30 AM. Guests are welcome to join the family at Greenlawn Cemetery, 687 US 50, Milford, OH 45150 immediately following the service. Family and friends will gather afterwards.
