Marlene Rush (nee Overbeck), born on April 12, 1943, began her eternal life on May 27, 2026. She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, John; her children Jay (Kerry) Rush, Bridget Rush (Rob Garavaglia), Craig (Tiffany) Rush, and Cara (Tyler) Cross; and her cherished grandchildren Danielle, Emily, Maggie, Anthony, Sam, Joy, Marlee, Addie, and Maeve.
Marlene attended St. Aloysius Grade School, Mercy High School, and Edgecliff College. She dedicated her professional life to serving others, first as a teacher, as a volunteer at the Arthritis Foundation, and later through her meaningful work supporting families affected by Alzheimer’s disease. She led the Central Illinois Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association for 16 years, making a lasting impact in her community.
Marlene found her greatest joy in her family. She was deeply devoted to her husband, children, and grandchildren, and she made it a priority to be present for every challenge and milestone. Known for her warmth, humor, and unwavering support, she lived by the motto, “What happens at Grandma’s stays at Grandma’s,” and delighted in creating special memories with her grandchildren.
A celebration of Marlene’s life will be held on Monday, June 1, at Bellarmine Chapel (3801 Francis Xavier Way, Cincinnati, OH 45207), with visitation from 10–11 am, followed by a funeral Mass from 11-12 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Magnified Giving or Crayons to Computers.
