Marjorie J. Kuhlman

Marjorie J. Kuhlman entered the gates of heaven on September 10th, after 98 remarkable years of sharing her love, her faith, and her gentle strength with everyone blessed to know her. She spent her final six days under the tender care of the Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash Inpatient Care Center — a rare moment of being on the receiving end of the compassion she had spent her entire life giving.

Marjorie was always the one who showed up for others, offering her exceptional nursing skill, her prayers, and her comforting presence to friends, family, and anyone in need.

Marjorie was best known for her unwavering Catholic faith, which was the very core of who she was, and for the kindness she showed to everyone she met. Her faith was her anchor, her compass, and her comfort — and she lived it openly, joyfully, and without hesitation.

Born on August 29, 1928, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Steve and Alvina (Moorman) Breslin, Marjorie grew up with her beloved younger sister, Nancy (Breslin) Overberg, who preceded her in death. She spent most of her life in Oakley, Silverton, and Kenwood, and lived independently in the family home she and her late husband John built in 1960 — right up until September 5, 2026.

On August 5, 1950, Marjorie married the love of her life, John G. Kuhlman. When John passed away far too early in 1978 at the age of 52, Marjorie found strength and grace through her faith in God and her deep love for her family. Her faith carried her through her own loss and became a source of comfort and courage for others. She was always there for friends who became widowed, offering them the same love, strength, and compassion that had carried her through her own journey.

Marjorie graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1946 and earned her RN from Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1949. She was proud of her nursing career, which she returned to after John’s passing. Caring for others came naturally to her; it was simply who she was.

She was also an incredible baker and cook — famous for her Peach Pie, Lady Finger Cake, and her beloved Christmas cookies. She was always ready to plan a party, holiday, or family celebration, taking great joy in bringing everyone together.

Above all, Marjorie was immensely proud of her family as it continued to grow. She found special ways to create memories for each and every one of us — memories we will cherish forever. She made sure we took a family vacation every summer, most often to Hilton Head, which became our family’s happy place. She loved the waves, the sound of the ocean, the warm breezes, and, most of all, the laughter surrounding her.

Even into her nineties, Marjorie made a point of dancing at her grandchildren’s weddings. She embraced life, celebrated her family, and continued to create memories right up until the end. Although she touched so many lives during her 98 years, family always came first.

Marjorie is survived by her three children: Sue (Drake) Tollefson, Mark (Leslie) Kuhlman, and Larry (Karen) Kuhlman.

She was a joyful and deeply involved grandmother to: John (Jen) Tollefson, Elyse (Mike) Suddendorf, Angie (Tim) Haag, Laura (Rob) Stoffer, Sara (David) McGinnis, Nick (Maggie) Kuhlman, Steve (Taylor) Kuhlman, and Krista (Jake) Brodbeck.

Her legacy continues through her 20 great‑grandchildren: Brynn Tollefson; Peter, Heidi, Jimmy, and Macie (Marjorie) Suddendorf; Hank and Max Haag; Sophie, Grace, and James Stoffer; Libby and Bennett McGinnis; Myles, Delaney, Riley, and Collins Kuhlman; Vince and Owen Kuhlman; Charlie and Leo Brodbeck. She celebrated each of them with birthday cards and her own special, unforgettable version of “Happy Birthday.”

For 66 years, Marjorie was a devoted member of All Saints Parish. She faithfully attended the 6:45 AM weekday Mass and the 4:30 PM Saturday Mass — always in row #2 on the Glenover side. On Sundays, she watched the Cathedral Mass from Covington. She walked and talked her faith, instilling it in her children and grandchildren through her example, her words, and her prayers.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026, from 8:45–9:45 a.m. at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, OH 45236.

The Cincinnati Nurses Honor Guard will offer a memorial tribute at approximately 10:10–10:15 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m.

Immediately after Mass, friends and family are invited to a luncheon at Obannon Creek Golf, 6842 Oakland Rd., Loveland, OH 45140.

A private burial will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

Marjorie’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Cincinnati for the loving, compassionate care they provided to her and to all who loved her.

Thank you, Mom, for every sacrifice, every lesson, every tear, and every prayer. Thank you for your unconditional love — but most of all, thank you for being the mother, grandmother, and great‑grandmother we were so blessed to call our own.

May you be reunited with John and with all the friends and relatives who have been waiting for you in Heaven. We know there is already a party to plan, and they’re waiting for you to arrive.

Until we meet again, you will live in our hearts and memories forever.
