On January 17, 1927 twin daughters were born to William Davis and Cora Mae Evans named Katherine (Betty) and Marie. The twins were raised Catholic along with their three sisters and seven brothers who all preceded Marie in death. Carl Davis of N.Y. is the only living sibling. Marie grew up in the West End, Mt. Auburn, Walnut Hills and at the age of fifteen she moved to the East End. At the age of fifteen her family moved to East End and within a year she lost both of her parents. As a result, Marie had to drop out of school and enter the workforce. At this point, she went to work for Uncle Merlin and Blanche Jones at the Container Corporation of America. Marie, as an independent, well-dressed young lady met a handsome, well-dressed man by the name of George Leo Beatty, Jr. through his sister Edith. After a short courtship they were married on June 15, 1946. This union was blessed with six children: Jacqueline, Janis (deceased), George III, Howard, Harold, and Mario. Marie quit working and became a full-time homemaker extraordinaire. Marie was totally devoted to George and her children and she was a strong-willed, pillar of strength in the family. In the home, Marie placed a high value on education by emphasizing that her children successfully matriculate through school. In addition to promoting education, as a mother she was sweet, caring, supportive, strong, forgiving, unselfish, loyal, protective, nurturing, and kind. As a mother, she constantly demonstrated unconditional love and a total commitment to the optimal growth and development of her family. As a strong disciplinarian, Marie was adept at providing her children and grandchildren life lessons by communicating with them through a "colorful" command of the English language. She loved music, especially opera, jazz, blues, and rhythm and blues. Marie was preceded in death by the love of her life "Georgie" and daughter Janis Beatty Rush. Her spirit will always live on in her children: Jaki Beatty Bolden, George Leo Beatty III and family, Howard Beatty and family, Harold and Brenda Beatty and family, and Dr. Mario Beatty and Dr. Valethia Watkins-Beatty. She leaves 14 grandchildren: Nichelle, Amber, Dionne, Robert, Sonya, Howard, Jr., Venetia, Serena, Gina, Kara, Leah, George IV, Misha, and Mia. She leaves a niece Shirley (Cookie) Sykes, sister-in-laws Carol Walker and Gwen Wilson, brother-in-law Richard and daughter-in-law Deshaurne Beatty. Marie's loving sister-in-law Edith Hargrave preceded her in passing. She leaves 25 great grandchildren: Dakota, Kyle, Myles, Taylor, Rachi, Summer, Shabazz, Karis, Kayla, Kourtney, Kassidy, Robert Jr., K.J., Paige, Sylvia, Joshua, Christian, Cece, Kaleb, Malachi, Asa, Janis II, Kevin, Ariel, and Trinity.
