Louis R. Sandmann, beloved husband of sixty years to Patricia R. Sandmann (nee Powers), devoted father of the late Cynthia A. Sandmann (Frederic), Donna L. Burton (Brian), Catherine L. Deters (Mike), Patricia S. Shircliff, Nancy E. Henderson, Lori E. Petty (Brian), Rebecca A. Sandmann, loving grandfather to Michael, Bobby, Jordan, Caitlin, Brady, Logan, Marina, Jade, Dylan, Gracie, Ben, Louis, Piper, great-grandfather to Ella and Rylan. Dear brother of the late Donald Sandmann, George Sandmann. Also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Passed away on November 24, 2015 at the age of 84. Louis retired at the age of 80 years old after dedicating 64 years of his life at the Cincinnati Post/Enquirer. Proudly served in the Navy as a Seaman on the U.S.S. Missouri (Mighty Mo) during the Korean War. Louis will be remembered for his love of Mt. Adams where he was born and lived for the majority of his life, he was part owner of Mt. Adams Bar & Grill and City View Tavern, family businesses until sold. He was passionate about Avoca Park, softball, boating and fishing. He was inducted into the Softball Hall of Fame in 1985 for recognition as the owner of Avoca Park, the first privately owned Softball Complex in Ohio. Louis spent winters in Florida and summers at his cottage at Doyle's Country Club on the Ohio River. Visitation Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Gilligan Funeral Home, 2926 Woodburn Avenue, Cincinnati OH from 5:30p.m. until 8:00p.m. Mass of Christian Burial to be held at Holy Cross-Immaculata Church, 30 Guido Street, Mt. Adams on Thursday, December 3, 2015 at 11:00a.m.
