Leigh Kallas Batsakes

In honor of their mother who gave them life, the children of Leigh Batsakes:

Helena Armour, Sandra Turner, Anna Maria Batsakes and Peter James Batsakes, would like to share Leigh’s unique being to keep her memory alive.

Leigh arrived from Athens Greece at the age of 17 to wed James Peter Batsakes and by the age of 31 had birthed all 4 children.

Always alive with curiosity, Leigh was socially active in the Cincinnati Greek Orthodox Church and attended modeling and interior design school. She loved to cook and entertain and was known for her gourmet “know how”, especially Greek food. Leigh loved being on top of every season’s “what’s trending” fashion and remained a diehard fan of her favorite soap opera, “As the World Turns”; a soap that in many ways influenced her life as a world traveler and Queen Bee of social parties!

By the age of 27, Leigh expanded her Cincinnati social and professional circle as an active tennis player and as an associate interior designer under Paul Dorset Interior Design. Her friends adored her, especially for Leigh’s personal tour excursions taking them to her beloved homeland, Greece, and its beautiful islands.

In the late 1980’s, Leigh’s husband, James, purchased a swank condo for her in Greece where she spent many years expanding her social circle and being close to her biological family.

From 2005 forward, Leigh dedicated her time to her own talent as an artist and filled her home with personal art that all friends admired.

Leigh was the proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren; Miles Turner,

James Turner, Max Oberlander, Noah Oberlander, Tommy Armour IV,

James Alexander Batsakes, Henry Batsakes and Carmen Evangelica Coward.

Leigh quietly, peacefully passed in her sleep having lived a full “on the go” 85 years and her children are grateful for her peaceful passing.

Assuredly, Leigh’s children and grandchildren, in moments of memory, will pass on Leigh’s creative and social traits in their personal lives and to future generations.
