Karen Frances Carter Wertheimer, passed away Tuesday August 14th 2007 at her home on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Ann Carter. She was a dedicated volunteer for the Coastal Discovery Museum, the Literacy Volunteers of Lowcountry and the Audubon Society. Prior to moving to Hilton Head she volunteered at "I Know I Can", Saint Francis Soup Kitchen and the Dearborn Public Library. She was a graduate of Summit Country Day School, Cincinnati and the University of Cincinnati. She is survived by her husband of 40 years Thomas C. Wertheimer; three daughters, Amy of Cincinnati, Laura of Cleveland, and Allison of London, England and her son Robert and his wife Risha of New York City and her brother and sister-in-law Edward and Betty Carter of Cincinnati. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August the 16th from 6 - 8 pm at The Island Funeral Home and Crematory, Hilton Head, SC. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10 am at Holy Family Catholic Church. There will be a graveside service at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati, on Saturday at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, donations in Karen's memory may be made to Literacy Volunteers of the Lowcountry, Wexford Center, 9 Town Center Court, Hilton Head Island, SC 29928, The Karen F.
