Kalliopi Popi Apostolides (nee Papadourakis), age 87, passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter, Eliana Papadakis in Wayne, Pennsylvania on March 1, 2005. Popi is the wife of the late Demos Apostolides and beloved mother of Dr. Anthony Apostolides and his wife Patty, and Eliana Papadakis and her husband, Dr. Constantine Papadakis, President of Drexel University. She is also survived by her grandchildren Maria Papadakis and Anthony Apostolides Jr. Popi and her family immigrated to Cincinnati, Ohio from Greece in 1954 and settled in Pleasant Ridge. Until retirement she worked for Henry Harris, Giddings Jenny and Saks Fifth Avenue. Popi was also an accomplished artist and a poet. She is survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces in Boston, Chicago and Pittsburgh and her three brothers and their families in Greece. Funeral and burial will be held in Cincinnati, Ohio. The family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Trinity-St. Nichoas Greek Orthodox Church, 7000 Winton Rd., Cincinnati, Ohio on Saturday, March 5 at 12 Noon for viewing followed by the funeral service at 1 P.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maria Papadakis Scholarship Fund, Drexel University c/o Pete Frisko, Philadelphia, PA 19104 or to a charity of choice.
