Jona Collins Wallace

Jona Collins Wallace, 72, of Erlanger, Kentucky, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on April 6, 1954, in Ely, Nevada, Jona was the daughter of Jon R. Collins and Rita (Baird) Collins.

Jona proudly served her country in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant—an achievement she was deeply proud of. The discipline and resilience she gained during her service carried into her later work as a CNA, where she provided compassionate care to others.

Jona leaves behind her loving family who will cherish her memory. Among those mourning her passing are her sisters Pamela and Candace (Jim). She is survived by her daughter, Marion; her son, Thomas/Buddy (Catherine); her grandchildren, Trinity (Arturo), Cadence, Gabriel, Castiel, and Dahlia; and her great-grandchildren, Lorenzo, Ezekiel, and Azriell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jon R. Collins and Rita (Baird) Collins. Her Sister Melissa Collins, and her Daughter Kelli Collins. Also her beloved dogs Buster and Maggie and her Granddogs Belle and Priss who all welcomed her home

Jona cherished her life with her two children, creating a home filled with love, laughter, and open doors. She welcomed their friends as if they were her own, offering kindness, shelter, and a place to belong. She never met a stranger—whether in people or animals—and had a special love for her pets, especially her cats and her beloved dogs, Penny, Bruno, and Louie.

Jona treasured the time she spent with her three older grandchildren, especially the joy of their overnight visits filled with movies, laughter, and togetherness. She took special delight in spoiling her grandson Gabe, cherishing every moment with him before he began kindergarten. She also held her grandchildren close in her heart in everyday ways, keeping Castiel’s picture on her cell phone over the years as a constant reminder of her love. She found such joy in meeting her great-grandsons and spending time with them. These simple, loving moments created memories that will be held close forever.

A private visitation will be held for family at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati. A Celebration of Life will follow at a later date and time.
