John “Jack” Charles Shaw, 83, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, in Cincinnati, OH.
John Shaw was born on August 11, 1942 in Topeka, KS, to the late John Melbourne Shaw and Helen Elizabeth Shaw.
He graduated from Reading High School in 1960. He started his career and made his way into the grocery industry, where he first worked at a grocery store, then moved on to Nash Finch Company, where he remained for forty years until his retirement. Jack was an extremely hard worker so retirement did not slow him down. He worked for his son-in-law’s business until he was in his late seventies.
John married Bonnie Muhlenhardon September,15th,1962 in Cincinnati, Ohio. They were married for sixty years.
Jack not only was a hard worker, but he was always there to lend a helping hand to neighbors, friends, family, and even strangers. Jack enjoyed entertainment of any kind, but had a special love for music. For many years he could be found at the ice-skating rink playing the recordings of music he had made for the Queen City Figure Skating Club. Jack was also a very positive and optimistic man. If you knew him over the last ten years no matter what, if you asked him how he was he would always reply “fantastic, just fantastic”.
John is survived by his daughter Jodi (Bradley) Ward. His grandchildren whom he loved dearly Jacob (Katie) Ward, Haley (Connor Lin) Ward, Noah Ward, Austin Ward, his sister who always made him laugh Kay(Jack) Shafer and many nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bonnie, he is preceded in death by his sister Patricia Brock (Shaw).
Memorial donations can be made in John's name to Hospice of Cincinnati Blue Ash Inpatient Center, 4310 Cooper Rd, Cincinnati, OH 45242.
A memorial/service will be scheduled at a later date to be determined.
