Janet Elizabeth Hayes(nee.Cummins) 94 of Cincinnati, OH passed away peacefully on June 18, 2013 at the home of her eldest daughter, M. Kathleen. She was preceded by her husband of 55 years, J. Kaney Hayes of Cincinnati. She is survived by her children Kevin (Joanne Waeltermann), Baltimore, MD; M. Kathleen (Michael Herschede), Michael Hayes and Tom Hayes (Mag Gajus), all of Cincinnati; Mary Hayes, Phoenix, AZ; M. Kiene (James Landry), Los Angeles, CA and by 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Janet was born in St. Louis, MO and lived in Cincinnati from 1958 forward, with a 6 year stay in Los Angeles with Kiene and Jim Landry's family. Janet attended Nerinx Hall High School, continued at Harris Teachers College, both in St. Louis, Missouri and earned her MED from Xavier University in Cincinnati Ohio. She taught remedial reading in the Cincinnati school system for over 30 years and spent her married life raising her family of six children while supporting her husband in his career as a professor at Xavier University, Cincinnati. Visitation will be Saturday, June 29 from 8:30 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Bellarmine Chapel on the campus of Xavier University. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Nerinx Hall High School, her alma mater in Webster Groves, MO, which she supported through educational scholarships for most of her adult life.
