Janet Helene McKeon Fortin, born in Suffolk, Virginia, on July 18, 1941. Daughter of Edward Donald and Ruth Black McKeon, Kennebunk, Maine. Beloved wife of Roger Antonio Fortin. Loving mother of Thomas (deceased 2011); Michael (Marta Rosario), Seattle, Washington; Christine Helene (deceased 1965); Stephen (Amy Shouse), Batavia, Ohio; David (Laurel Zaniker), Seattle, Washington; Jessica (Bradley Early), Loveland, Ohio; Jennifer (Michael Grubbs), Santa Rosa Beach, Florida; and Jeffrey, Cincinnati, Ohio. Grandmother to eighteen grandchildren, Melissa, Elsie, Krystine, Annie, Cody, Morgon, Myra, Emily, Jasmin, Mackenzie, Benjamin, Eleanor, Jackson, Andrew, Georgette, Samuel, Josephine, and Charli; and four great-grandchildren, Nathan, Desmond, Penelope, and Harper. Raised in Kennebunk, Maine, and is a graduate of Kennebunk High School (1959), where she was head majorette, and Mount Ida Junior College (1961).

She and Roger met on a blind date on October 14, 1960, married a year later, on the same date, and celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary a month ago. They moved to Cincinnati in August 1966. Janet is co-founder of two local organizations, Husband-Coached Natural Childbirth and the Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Foundation. In 1972 and 1974 she was the recipient of two Danforth Associate Project Fund Stipends for the Women's Center at Xavier University.

She loved to read medical and non-fiction works, to decorate her home and tend to her plants and flowers collected over the years, entertain friends and family, and to share family stories with her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of her family. Janet and Roger enjoyed their many travels together, including trips to Europe and Hawaii.
