James "Jimmy" Pei-Liang Hsu. Devoted husband to Yeh-Sun (Sunny) Wang Hsu and beloved father of Timothy (Timmy) Wang Hsu and Melinda (Mindy) Laine Hsu. He is also survived by 6 brothers and sisters and several nieces and nephews. Died at home on June 19, 2009 surrounded by family and close friends at the age of 67. Dr. Hsu received his medical degree from Taipei Medical College, Taipei, Taiwan in 1966. He completed his internship at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois followed by a residency in pathology at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan and residency in general surgery at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. He then completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Cincinnati and was awarded a Christine M. Kleinert Institute fellowship in hand and microsurgery at the University of Louisville. He practiced in Cincinnati after his training. In 2001, he joined Ohio Valley Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, Inc. Dr. Hsu was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Along with practicing general orthopaedics, his special interests included hand and upper extremity reconstructive surgery. Dr. Hsu was a founder and president of the Chinese American Medical Association of Cincinnati and Chair of the Orthopaedics Department at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati. He also served as mentor, tutor, and benefactor to inner city youth and instituted a college fund at the Hope Academy in Evanston. He strongly supported the Teen Challenge ministry and contributed towards founding the TV ministry at Kenwood Baptist Church, where he was a member since 1976. Visitation will be on Friday, June 26, from 5:30 8:30 p.m. with the funeral service on Saturday, June 27 at 11:00 a.m., both at Kenwood Baptist Church. Interment at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family.
