James Vincent Foley (Jim), age 94, of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on November 12, 2021 from pneumonia. He was born on August 27, 1927 in Hamilton, Ohio. Jim was the beloved husband for 67 years to the late Mary Foley. He was the father to Ken (Sue), Bonita Springs, FL; Kathy Shook (Mark) Phoenix, AZ; Tim (Vicki) Minneapolis MN; and Dave (Natalie) Manhattan Beach, CA as well as the grandfather of six grandchildren: Maria Danker, Monica Foley, Kristine Shook, Katie Shook, Jeff Foley, Molly Foley. His four brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Jim served in the Army Air Force from 1945-1947 and then went to work at Foley Radio, TV, and Electric in Hamilton, Ohio. Jim's brother, Harold Foley, founded the business in 1944 and Jim worked there for 17 years. While working a full-time job and helping Mary raise four children, Jim also attended night classes for 10 years at the University of Cincinnati. He earned his degree in electrical engineering in 1965. After graduation, Jim accepted a job with Motorola in Chicago, IL. In 1969, he took a position with General Electric in Syracuse, NY. Jim worked for GE for the remainder of his career, including a two-year stint in Shenzhen, China. He retired in 1990 and moved back to Cincinnati from China.
Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at Gilligan Funeral Home, 8225 Montgomery Road in Kenwood (at the intersection of E. Galbraith and Montgomery). A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at All Saints Church, 8939 Montgomery Road. Graveside service will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 644 Linn St. Suite 1026, Cincinnati, Ohio 45203.
